Cm: conserving wildlife, but also ensuring development | News from Shimla

Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while chairing the 10th meeting of the state wildlife council in Shimla on Tuesday, said wildlife must be conserved at all costs, but at the same time, there must also be ensure development work is not impeded due to various wildlife area issues.
He ordered the officers to secure time-limited permits for the proposed construction of the Thunag-Pajut-Lambasafar-Chilamgad-Shikaridevi road. He said it would give a big boost to the development of tourism in the region. He said a concrete plan must be prepared for the conservation of rare species of Himalayan animals and birds.
Thakur said the state government is paying attention to the preservation and conservation of wildlife in the state and the government’s efforts in this direction have been appreciated and recognized nationally.
He said good coordination between different operational departments must also be ensured so that development projects can be accelerated. He said that some ambitious projects need to be prepared so that these can be linked to tourism-related activities.
The council also gave its approval for the diversion of 0.0375 hectare of forest land for the construction of a helipad in Nagasti by the ITBP authorities in Rakchham-Chhitkul Wildlife Sanctuary. tnn
