Wildlife Habitat Council recognizes ITC for conservation efforts at headquarters

Covering 92 acres, ITC’s corporate campus includes a naturalized transmission corridor, various forests, open green spaces, wetlands, as well as a nature trail and large pond. The campus also houses a demonstration corridor and a pollinator garden featuring native species, bluebird nest boxes and bat nest boxes. The grounds are maintained year-round using sustainable environmental principles using native plantings, invasive species removal, wildlife test cameras, and annual flora and fauna surveys.

“Our work at ITC is focused on delivering a bigger network for a greener future,” said Mike McNulty, Environmental Manager at ITC. “This long-standing priority not only extends to our corporate campus, but is also evident across our footprint and in how we build, operate and maintain our electrical transmission systems. We are honored to to be recognized by WHC.”

With the addition of this year’s WHC awards, ITC now holds 14 WHC® conservation certifications. To date, ITC certifications involve the restoration, creation, protection and enhancement of habitat and the management of individual species at sites across Michigan and Iowa. ITC has been involved in the program since 2008.
